Abodu Construction in San Diego, CA | Mason Remodeling Co San Diego

We provide independent Abodu construction service across San Diego, and the one thing that makes our work different here is that we’ve spent years fixing what coastal air, canyon winds, and hillside movement actually do to these modular homes. We’re not an Abodu dealer or authorized rep, but we’ve retrofitted, repaired, and remodeled enough Abodu units in this city to know exactly where they struggle and what it costs to correct. If you own an Abodu ADU or modular home in San Diego, call (619) 673-9302 and we’ll send a crew that already knows your neighborhood’s soil, salt, and permit landscape.

Why San Diego Residents Choose Us for Abodu Service

A second-story addition that matches the existing roofline

Abodu homes are well-built prefab units, but they arrive in San Diego with a set of assumptions baked into them that don’t always match our terrain. Our crews work on Abodu Series One and Series Two ADUs, plus the older 500 and 750 modular units, across canyon-rim stucco infill lots and coastal bluff sites. That gives us deep independent insight into how Abodu’s prefab systems perform here. We’re not affiliated with Abodu, but we’ve repaired, remodeled, and retrofitted enough of their units to know exactly where they need help.

Isaac Pruett leads our San Diego crew. He grew up in Los Angeles and picked up his first framing hammer on a job site before he ever picked up a textbook, then turned that raw instinct into a real skill set at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College. For the past several years he and his crew have worked all across San Diego County, from gut-renovating kitchens a few blocks from Balboa Park to San Diego Bathroom Remodeling and full overhauls on canyon lots in Allied Gardens and Clairemont. What that means for you: the person who answers when you call has likely already worked on a home like yours, on a street like yours, with the same drainage and corrosion issues you’re seeing.

Every Abodu project starts with a written price before any work begins. No verbal guesswork. No invoice that grows. And every completed job is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise, starting the day of completion.

Common Abodu Construction Problems We Solve in San Diego

  • Coastal chassis corrosion. Abodu’s steel chassis and bolted panel joints can develop corrosion at sea-spray exposure in beach neighborhoods like Ocean Beach and Mission Beach. The salt air accelerates rust on fasteners and the base frame, especially on the south corner where afternoon sun bakes the coating. We replace fasteners with marine-grade stainless, treat the chassis, and re-seal panel seams with architectural-grade elastomeric.
  • Mini-split refrigerant leaks. The factory-installed mini-split HVAC lines running through wall cavities in Abodu modules often leak at flare fittings after San Diego’s seasonal temperature swings. You’ll notice cooling capacity dropping by mid-summer. We trace the lines, replace the fitting, and recharge the system rather than recommending a full replacement.
  • Cellulose settling in hillside installs. Abodu’s standard 2×4 framing with dense-pack cellulose can settle over time in hillside installations, leaving gaps at wall-ceiling intersections that compromise air sealing and invite moisture intrusion during winter rains. We re-dense-pack the wall cavities through small access holes and re-seal, no wall tear-out needed.
  • Sliding door binding from canyon dust. Sliding glass door rollers and tracks on Abodu units accumulate fine dust from canyon winds, especially near Tecolote Canyon, and bind during dry summer months. We adjust and replace rollers regularly for homeowners throughout San Diego.
  • Stucco cracking at module seams. The juncture where Abodu panels meet is a common failure point in San Diego homes, where temperature shifts between foggy mornings and hot afternoons cause expansion and contraction that cracks stucco. We repair and re-coat with elastomeric products that flex with the movement.

Abodu Service in San Diego: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

A finished backyard cottage with a small covered porch

San Diego’s “Coastal Zone” permitting includes special bluff-top and canyon-rim erosion control mandates, which directly affect Abodu installations because the modules’ steel perimeter foundations must be anchored into engineered hillside footings. This is not a suggestion. In Clairemont and La Jolla, where the 50-foot coastal overlay applies, we’ve refined an anchoring process that satisfies the city’s geotechnical reviewers while keeping the Abodu module ride height correct for drainage. An Abodu delivered and set on a flat pad in another city doesn’t face this. In San Diego, your General Contractor - San Diego has to think about slope stability, erosion control fabric, and where stormwater goes before the module ever arrives. We’ve done that work enough times to know which inspectors want which reports and which soil reports get flagged.

Our crew recently retrofitted an Abodu Series One on a downslope lot in Allied Gardens, where the original owner had skipped a proper drainage curtain. The steel chassis was showing early surface rust at the south corner, and the closet wall revealed cellulose settling that left a one-inch gap at the ceiling. We pressure-washed and treated the chassis, added a French drain along the upslope side, re-dense-packed the wall cavities through small access holes, and re-sealed the panel seams with a marine-grade elastomeric. No module replacement needed. That’s the repair-over-replacement approach we recommend for most Abodu issues.

Abodu Models & Products We Service in San Diego

We service the full Abodu line: the current Series One and Series Two ADUs, plus the legacy Abodu 500 and 750 modular units still in service across San Diego. For structural connectors and weatherproofing membranes, we use OEM modules to maintain factory integrity. But for coastal corrosion resistance, we upgrade to stainless fasteners and architectural-grade sealants because the factory-spec zinc-coated hardware doesn’t hold up within a mile of the Pacific in our experience.

We keep common Abodu parts on hand for faster San Diego turnaround: sliding door rollers, flare fittings, stainless fasteners, and elastomeric sealant. If you need a roof repair, impact window installation, or a whole ADU construction project, see our Abodu sales & service page for details on what we handle.

Impact Window Installation $9,440 – $29,500
