Jerith Kitchen Remodeling: The San Diego Owner’s Guide
We stock Jerith-compatible kitchen remodeling components across San Diego and typically install them within the same week, with full kitchen remodels running $16,520 to $53,100 depending on scope. Most homeowners discover a Jerith part has failed when cabinet doors start sagging, drawer slides catch mid-pull, or a countertop seam opens up near the sink. You’ll usually notice the problem first in the busiest corner of the kitchen, where the daily wear actually lives.
We’re an independent San Diego contractor, not affiliated with Jerith. But we’ve worked on enough Jerith kitchens across the county to know exactly how their hardware ages, what fails first, and what’s worth salvaging versus replacing.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith cabinetry and kitchen components show up across three main lines we see in San Diego homes: the builder-grade series installed in tract housing from the 1990s and 2000s, the mid-tier line common in Mission Valley and Clairemont remodels, and a heavier custom series found in La Jolla and Coronado kitchens. The easiest way to identify your exact configuration is to open a cabinet door and look for the manufacturer label on the interior hinge-side frame. If it’s gone, measure the hinge cup diameter: Jerith’s standard is 35mm, and their older builder line uses a shallower 11mm overlay hinge that’s no longer produced.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we tell every client: Jerith switched hinge suppliers around 2012, and the new-generation hinges don’t match the old screw pattern. If you have pre-2012 cabinets, an OEM hinge will be hard to find, but a Blum 71B3550 compact clip hinge fits the existing bore with only a minor plate swap. For drawer slides, Jerith’s full-extension 21-inch slides are still available as OEM, but a Knape & Vogt 8400 series slide is the quality aftermarket workhorse we stock on the truck and prefer for daily-use drawers.

Signs Your Jerith Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Cabinet doors that won’t stay closed. The spring in the self-closing hinge has lost tension. This is the single most common Jerith failure we see, especially in San Diego’s coastal zones where salt air accelerates metal fatigue.
- Drawers that grind or stick mid-pull. The nylon roller inside the slide has flat-spotted or cracked. Once one roller goes, the drawer starts wearing the track itself, and replacement cost jumps.
- Discoloration or swelling at the cabinet base. Water from sink splashes has wicked into the toe-kick or side panel. This is a structural problem, not a cosmetic one, and it usually starts under the sink cabinet first.
- Countertop seam opening near the dishwasher. The heat cycle from a dishwasher can break down seam adhesive over time. We see this often in Point Loma and Ocean Beach kitchens where the original install used a basic silicone instead of a professional-grade adhesive.
- Soft-close dampers that slam shut. The damper cartridge inside the hinge has leaked its hydraulic fluid. Jerith’s builder-grade dampers last about five to seven years under normal use before this happens.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For San Diego kitchens, here’s what you’re looking at: a partial Jerith hardware refresh, which means new hinges, slides, and dampers on existing cabinets, runs $4,720 to $15,340 as part of a cabinet installation scope. Full cabinet replacement lands in the $10,620 to $23,600 range for a small kitchen, and a complete kitchen remodel with Jerith-compatible cabinetry, countertops, and fixtures runs $16,520 to $53,100. Countertop replacement alone runs $2,360 to $7,670, and a new backsplash adds $945 to $2,950.
Every quote we give is a written price before work starts. No verbal estimate that grows on the final bill. We follow the same standard: name and photo of the technician before arrival, a photo ID badge at the door, and a written guarantee covering workmanship for 365 days from completion.
DIY or Call Us?
Adjusting a misaligned hinge or tightening a loose slide screw is something most homeowners can handle with a Phillips screwdriver. We’ll even walk you through it over the phone if you call. But the moment you’re dealing with a hinge cup that’s pulled out of the particleboard, a drawer track that’s worn through, or water-damaged cabinet bases, DIY gets expensive fast. Particleboard doesn’t take a second screw well, and if you strip it, the repair cost doubles. A few of the cabinet boxes in older San Diego homes also conceal wiring for under-cabinet lighting, and careless drilling with a long screw can nick a wire. If the failure is structural or electrical, that’s a job for a trained crew, and it’s exactly what we do. Tell me what’s broken. We’ll tell you what it takes. Call (619) 673-9302 and we’ll walk through it together.
FAQs

Jerith builder-grade cabinets typically last 12 to 15 years in San Diego’s climate before hinges, slides, and box integrity start showing real wear. Coastal homes in La Jolla, Pacific Beach, and Point Loma tend to see hardware failures a few years earlier from salt air exposure. Well-maintained custom-series Jerith cabinetry, by contrast, can run 25 years or more. If you’re at the 10-year mark and seeing multiple hinge failures, call (619) 673-9302 for a free estimate on a hardware refresh before box damage escalates.
In most cases, yes, a hinge that won’t stay closed or a soft-close damper that slams can be repaired by replacing the individual component, which costs far less than full cabinet replacement. The real question is whether the surrounding particleboard still has structural integrity. When two or more hinge cups have torn out or the drawer track is worn through, repair becomes a patch job, and replacement is the honest recommendation. We’ll tell you which one you need, and the estimate is free.
A hardware-only swap, meaning new hinges and slides throughout, takes one to two working days. A full kitchen remodel with Jerith-compatible cabinetry, countertops, and backsplash typically runs six to eight weeks depending on custom cabinet lead times. We’ll give you a written schedule before any work starts, so you’re never wondering when the crew arrives. Call (619) 673-9302 and we’ll map it out for your specific kitchen.
We keep the fast-moving Jerith-compatible hardware on our trucks: 35mm hinges, full-extension slides in common lengths, damper cartridges, and catch plates. Specialty items and full cabinet boxes are ordered per project, usually arriving within one to two weeks. If we have the part you need already loaded, we’ll tell you before we dispatch a technician. We also stock quality options from KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone when a matching surface needs replacement.
If your Jerith kitchen is showing any of these signs, call (619) 673-9302. We’ll give you a straight answer on what’s failing, what it costs to fix, and whether it’s worth doing now or holding off. Estimates are free, and they’re in writing before any work starts.
