Techo-Bloc Fence Installation: The San Diego Owner’s Guide
We install, repair, and replace Techo-Bloc fence systems throughout San Diego, with most complete installations running between $4,130 and $10,620 depending on panel count, site access, and whether we’re working with existing footings or pouring new ones. Most San Diego homeowners call us because a panel has shifted out of alignment after a winter storm, a post has developed a lean, or the concrete footer has started spalling at the base. The good news: if your Techo-Bloc fence panels themselves are intact, the fix is usually a post-and-footing job, not a full teardown.
We stock Techo-Bloc-compatible post hardware, leveling shims, and fasteners on our trucks, which means most San Diego fence repairs in neighborhoods like Clairemont, North Park, and La Mesa get diagnosed and fixed on the first visit. Isaac Pruett and our crew have worked on enough Techo-Bloc fences across San Diego County to know the difference between a fence that’s failed and one that was installed wrong from the start.
Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc doesn’t make traditional vinyl or wood fence panels. Their fence and screen products are modular precast concrete systems, and the two lines we see most often in San Diego are the Borealis and Industria series. Borealis is the more common residential line, with smooth or split-face finishes and a clean modern profile. Industria has a rougher architectural texture and tends to show up in multi-family and commercial settings, though we’ve installed it on plenty of high-end residential projects in Point Loma and Del Cerro.
The compatibility gotcha with Techo-Bloc fences is the post-to-panel channel system. Unlike a basic fence where panels overlap the post, Techo-Bloc panels slide into a recessed vertical channel on each post. If a post shifts even 1/4 inch, the panel can bind, crack, or pop out. We always measure the channel width on the existing post before ordering anything, because earlier Borealis runs used a slightly narrower channel than current production. Using a current-spec panel in an older post, or vice versa, leaves you with a gap or a pressure point that fails within a year or two.
Mason Remodeling Co San Diego is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with Techo-Bloc and we don’t pretend to be. What we do is stock and install their products properly, and if you want OEM panels, we order directly through Techo-Bloc’s distribution network. In our experience, OEM is the right call for the panels themselves. For post hardware and leveling components, we’ve had equal or better lifespan from spec-matched aftermarket galvanized steel, which matters in San Diego’s coastal air where cheap zinc plating rusts out fast.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Fence Installation Is Failing
- Panel rocking or rattling in the post channel. This almost always means the post has shifted off vertical, usually because the concrete footer wasn’t deep enough or has cracked. The panel’s weight then works against the channel, looseness gets worse over months, and eventually chips the channel edges.
- Hairline cracks running diagonally from a top corner of a panel. We see this most in panels installed without adequate expansion gaps at the ends. Concrete expands and contracts with San Diego’s temperature swings, even the mild ones. When two panels are butted tight, they push against each other and the weaker one cracks first.
- Post lean, especially after rain. San Diego’s clay-heavy soil in areas like Mission Valley and parts of Chula Vista expands dramatically when wet. If posts were set in shallow footings or without compacted base, a single wet winter tilts them like dominos. This is the top reason we’re called out for Techo-Bloc fence repairs in those neighborhoods.
- Rust streaks running down from post caps or panel joints. Coastal salt air in San Diego’s beach communities eats at cheap fasteners and untreated steel. If you’re seeing orange staining on a light-colored Borealis panel, the internal hardware has failed and it’s only a matter of time before the panel drops out of alignment.
- Gaps at the bottom of panels or between panel and post. This usually means the footing has settled or washed out. In hillside areas like Mount Helix or parts of Escondido, erosion under the base is common and needs to be addressed when we reset the post, not just patched at the top.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full Techo-Bloc fence replacement in San Diego, most jobs land between $4,130 and $10,620. That range covers removal of the existing fence, new concrete footings per San Diego code depth for freestanding walls, the panels and posts themselves, and full cleanup. The spread comes down to three things: total linear footage, how much of the existing footing can be reused, and whether the wall is under 3 feet tall or over 4 feet (anything over 4 feet in San Diego usually requires a structural review and deeper footings).
Every quote we write is a fixed number with a line-item breakdown: materials, labor, footing work, disposal, and any engineering time if it’s required. You’ll get the written price before any work starts, not after. If the project changes because you change it, we reprice it and you approve it first. There are no surprise invoices from us, ever.
Our workmanship warranty on fence installation runs 365 days from the completion date. If a post shifts, a panel cracks from installation error, or anything we touched fails in that window, we come back and make it right at no charge. The product itself carries Techo-Bloc’s manufacturer warranty, which we’ll walk you through in plain language before you commit.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check a few things safely before picking up the phone. Confirm the model name by looking at the bottom edge of any panel (Techo-Bloc embeds their name and sometimes the series code there). Check post verticals with a level. Tap panels with a rubber mallet to see if they’re seated in the channel. None of that requires tools or risk.
Where DIY goes wrong fast is deliberately moving anything. Techo-Bloc panels are heavy, often 100 pounds plus depending on the model, and they’re under compression when wedged between posts. If a post is leaning, that’s stored energy. Pull the wrong panel in the wrong order and you can drop one on your foot, your kid, or a car. Removing and resetting posts means pouring concrete, and in San Diego, that concrete needs to reach a depth that manual digging in our clay can rarely hit. If the panel is binding or cracked, stop and call. This is not a weekend project, and it’s not worth discovering that the hard way.
Call us at (619) 673-9302. We’ll walk you through what you’re seeing, give you a straight range over the phone, and schedule a visit with the crew member’s name and photo sent to you before we arrive, per the Threshold Standard. You’ll know exactly who’s coming to your door in San Diego, before we knock.
FAQs

A properly installed Techo-Bloc fence in San Diego should give you 30 to 50 years of service. The concrete itself is resilient. What fails around the 15 to 20 year mark in our climate is the hardware, especially in coastal zones where salt air accelerates corrosion on fasteners and post caps. Most repair calls we get in San Diego are on fences 12 to 18 years old, and the actual panels are still sound. Call (619) 673-9302 and we’ll tell you honestly whether you need replacement or just a hardware refresh.
Hairline cracks can often be stabilized with an epoxy injection, but we’re straightforward about limits: if the crack runs through a post channel or the panel has shifted in its channel, repair is a short-term bandage, not a fix. Once the structural connection is compromised, you’ll chase it with patches every year. For an honest assessment, call (619) 673-9302. We’ll tell you if repair makes sense or if you’re putting money into a panel that’s already done.
Most San Diego Techo-Bloc fence installations take two to four days from start to finish, including demolition of the old fence, footing work, panel setting, and cleanup. Concrete needs time to cure before we hang panels, so we pour footings on day one and come back 48 to 72 hours later to set. Weather in San Diego rarely delays us, but rain during pouring will push a schedule. We’ll give you a day-by-day timeline in your written quote before anything starts.
We stock the consumables, post hardware, shims, leveling kits, and fasteners on our trucks, and we can pick up common Borealis and Industria panels from local San Diego distributor yards within a day or two. Custom finishes or colors not in local inventory take longer, sometimes two to three weeks from Techo-Bloc’s regional hub. Our truck also carries replacement hardware for other brands we support, including KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone, so we can handle multiple fixes in one visit. Call (619) 673-9302 to check inventory for your model before you book.
