Abodu Roofing: The San Diego Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Abodu-compatible roofing components across San Diego, with most roof repairs running $470 to $2,125 and full replacements between $9,440 and $23,600 depending on scope and materials. If you’ve got a leak, lifted shingles, or a section of roof that failed after a storm or years of sun exposure, our crew can usually diagnose it within a day of your call. Most homeowners discover the problem the same way you probably did: a water stain on the ceiling, granules collecting in the gutter, or a damp smell in the attic that wasn’t there last month.

Call (619) 673-9302

Mason Remodeling Co San Diego is an independent contractor, not affiliated with Abodu. What that means for you is we match parts to the actual roof on your home, not a catalog number someone read off a screen. We carry standard asphalt shingle, tile, and metal roofing components, and when an Abodu-specific trim or flashing detail is needed, we source it directly from the manufacturer’s current supply chain. Call us at (619) 673-9302 and we’ll tell you what you’re looking at, in plain language, before anyone sets foot on your property.

Which Abodu Models This Applies To

A second-story addition that matches the existing roofline

Abodu homes built in the last decade use a consistent roofing envelope: a low-slope or gable profile with asphalt composition shingles or standing seam metal, depending on the original build spec. The critical detail with Abodu is the flashing system at the wall-to-roof transition. Those are tighter clearances than typical stick-built homes, so the flashing material has to be cut and folded precisely to match the prefabricated wall panel height. If someone tries to use an off-the-shelf drip edge or step flashing meant for conventional framing, you’ll get a leak within the first rainy season.

When we arrive, the first thing we check is the manufacturer label on the underside of the roof sheathing near the eave. Most Abodu units have a small metal or vinyl tag with the production year and series code. That tells us what underlayment was used, which shingle or metal gauge was specified, and whether the home predates their current fastener spec. For older Abodu units, we often recommend replacing the original gasketed fasteners at the same time as the shingles or panels, because that’s usually where water finds its way in after five or six years of San Diego’s hot-and-dry-then-wet cycles. We stock OEM-compatible fasteners and flashing on the truck, but we’re not going to pretend an aftermarket shingle from a different manufacturer is the same thing when it isn’t. For metal roofs, we match gauge and seam profile. For shingles, we match weight, warranty class, and color code. You shouldn’t have to think about that; that’s our job.

Signs Your Abodu Roofing Is Failing

  • Water stains on interior ceilings near the wall line. On Abodu homes, this almost always traces back to failed step flashing at the roof-to-wall junction. The panels settle slightly over time, and the flashing pulls away just enough to let water track behind the fascia.
  • Granules accumulating in gutters or at downspout bases. San Diego’s UV load is rough on asphalt shingles. If you’re seeing granule build-up every time you clean the gutters, your shingles are past mid-life and will start cracking at the corners soon.
  • Lifted or curled shingle edges along the south-facing slope. The southern exposure takes the full sun year-round. Shingles there fail first. If they’re curling upward, water can back up under them during the winter rain, and a small repair becomes a larger section replacement if it goes unchecked.
  • Rust streaks below metal panel seams. On standing seam Abodu roofs, rust at the seam means the panel coating has failed and moisture is sitting against the seam overlap. In coastal neighborhoods like Ocean Beach or Point Loma, salt air accelerates this. You’ll want it addressed before the seam fastener corrodes through.
  • Musty attic smell with no visible leak. That’s usually trapped moisture from inadequate ventilation at the ridge. Abodu’s tighter building envelope works great for energy efficiency, but it means ridge venting has to be matched to the roof’s square footage. If it’s undersized, condensation builds up and the sheathing rots from above.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A wide opening with a new beam where the kitchen wall was removed

In San Diego, roof repair on an Abodu home typically runs $470 to $2,125 depending on what’s failed. That covers isolated shingle or flashing replacement, seam resealing on metal panels, and minor underlayment patching. A full roof replacement runs $9,440 to $23,600. The spread depends on whether you’re doing asphalt composition (the lower end) or standing seam metal (the higher end), plus the roof’s square footage and whether the original underlayment needs full tear-off.

Every quote we give you is written and line-itemed before work starts. You’ll see the materials, the labor, the disposal, and the permit cost broken out separately. No verbal estimate, no surprises on the final bill. Our workmanship warranty runs 365 days from completion. If something fails within that year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s in writing, same as the price.

DIY or Call Us?

You can absolutely check a few things yourself: note where the water stain is on the ceiling, check your gutters for granules, and look up from the ground at the roof’s south slope for lifting shingles. That’s useful information and it helps us give you a more accurate phone estimate. What you shouldn’t do is get on the roof. Steep-pitch Abodu roofs, especially after rain, are a fall injury waiting to happen. Roof work means ladders, hoses, nail guns, and in some cases gas torches for torch-down sections. It’s not worth your safety to save a diagnostic fee.

Tell me what’s broken. I’ll tell you what it takes. Call (619) 673-9302 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll give you an honest range over the phone, and if you want us out there, you’ll know exactly who’s coming by name and photo before we arrive.
