CWS Kitchen Remodeling: The San Diego Owner’s Guide
If your CWS kitchen has a failed cabinet hinge, a drawer that’s off its track, or a countertop seam that’s separated, we stock the replacement parts and can usually handle the fix in one visit. A full CWS kitchen remodel in San Diego typically runs $16,520 to $53,100, but individual part replacements like hinges, slides, or a damaged cabinet door usually land between $120 and $600 installed. Most owners discover a part has failed the hard way: a door won’t close square, a drawer grinds when you pull it, or a shelf bracket sheared off under load.
We’re an independent San Diego remodeling company, not affiliated with CWS, which matters because we tell you straight whether an OEM part is worth the money or a quality equivalent will do the job for less.
Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS cabinetry and kitchen components show up in homes across San Diego County, from Rancho Bernardo track builds to custom remodels in La Jolla. The tricky part with CWS is that the brand sources hardware from several manufacturers depending on the cabinet line and the year it was installed. So a hinge from a 2015 CWS kitchen may not match a hinge from the same-looking cabinet installed in 2021.
Here’s how to identify what you need. Open the failing door or drawer and look for a small printed label on the cabinet box interior, usually on the hinge-side wall. CWS labels carry the model line and a production date code. If the label is gone, take a photo of the hinge or slide with a coin next to it for scale and text it to us at (619) 673-9302. We’ll match it before we come out. For most CWS kitchen components, OEM parts are worth buying when the piece is visible and color-matched, like a door front. For concealed hardware, a quality aftermarket equivalent like Blum or Salice often matches the original at 40 to 60 percent of the OEM price, and we’ll give you that option in writing before ordering anything.

Signs Your CWS Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Door won’t stay closed or pops back open. The hinge clip has usually worn out or a mounting screw stripped. On CWS cabinets, we most often see this on the lower doors that get the most use.
- Drawer grinds, sticks, or drops to one side. A bearing in the slide has failed, or the slide mount has come loose from the cabinet wall. Left alone, it’ll chew up the drawer box edges.
- Countertop seam is separating or lifting. In San Diego’s coastal humidity, laminate and solid-surface seams take a beating. If you live within a few miles of the water, expect adhesive failures earlier than inland.
- Shelf bracket bent or the shelf dropped. CWS adjustable shelves typically use pin brackets rated for about 40 to 60 pounds. Heavy dishes or a stacked pot collection exceeds that in a hurry.
- Soft-close mechanism stopped working. The damper inside the hinge or slide has leaked its fluid. It’s not fixable; the assembly gets replaced, which is a quick swap with the right part on hand.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s what we charge for common CWS kitchen part replacements in San Diego, parts and labor included:
- Cabinet hinge replacement: $45 – $120 per door, depending on hinge type and adjustment needed
- Drawer slide replacement: $75 – $180 per drawer
- Cabinet door replacement (OEM color-matched): $220 – $600 per door
- Shelf pin and bracket replacement: $35 – $90 per shelf
- Small appliance lift mechanism (stand mixer lift): $290 – $650
- Full CWS kitchen remodel: $16,520 – $53,100
Where your job lands in a range depends on part type, finish matching, and how much cabinet adjustment is needed after installation. If you want the door gaps even and the drawers on the same plane, that’s included. We don’t charge separately for the adjustment work. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the part and our labor for a full year from the completion date.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things before calling. Look at the hinge screws: are they loose or stripped? Is the drawer slide clip broken, or did the drawer just jump its track? If it’s a simple re-seat, fine. But here’s where DIY goes wrong on CWS kitchens: forcing a misaligned drawer back on a failing slide will crack the drawer box, and over-tightening stripped hinge screws will blow out the cabinet face frame. Then you’re into a $400 repair instead of a $75 one.
One more thing: CWS cabinet doors are heavy. If a top hinge has failed and the door is hanging by one hinge, don’t leave it. The remaining hinge carries double the load and will fail too, usually while someone is underneath it. Call (619) 673-9302, tell us what you’re seeing, and we’ll match the part before we head over.
FAQs

Most CWS cabinet boxes and doors last 15 to 25 years in San Diego, but hinges and drawer slides typically need replacing every 7 to 12 years depending on use and coastal humidity exposure. The cabinets usually outlast the hardware, which is why replacing a hinge is almost always a better call than replacing a cabinet. If you’re unsure whether your kitchen is near the end of its useful life, call (619) 673-9302 and we’ll give you an honest read.
No, soft-close dampers and ball-bearing slides are sealed units, so when they fail, the assembly gets swapped for a new one. The good news is that a hinge swap usually takes under ninety minutes and we carry common CWS-compatible replacements on the truck. Call (619) 673-9302 for an exact quote on your specific cabinet.
Most hinge and slide replacements take one to two hours on site. Color-matched door front replacements take longer because the door is ordered from the manufacturer and typically arrives in two to four weeks. We’ll give you the timeline in writing before you commit. For scheduling, call (619) 673-9302.
We stock common CWS-compatible hinges, slides, and shelf hardware on the truck, because those are what fail most in San Diego kitchens. For finishes and sizes we don’t carry, we order OEM or equivalent parts and let you know the lead time before any work begins. We also work with KraftMaid and Cambria components when a remodel calls for matching surfaces across brands, and we have Silestone options for countertop replacements. Call (619) 673-9302 with your cabinet label or a photo, and we’ll tell you what’s in stock today.
