Dvele Kitchen Remodeling: The San Diego Owner’s Guide
Dvele kitchen remodeling in San Diego typically runs $16,520 to $53,100 depending on cabinet count, surface material, and whether you’re refreshing one wall or gutting the whole room. We stock Dvele-compatible cabinet hardware, panel clips, hinge systems, and drawer glides on our trucks, so if a door is sagging or a drawer won’t close, we can usually match the part on the first visit. Most Dvele owners call us because something small failed first: a soft-close mechanism that stopped catching, a laminate edge separating near the sink, or a cabinet face that shifted out of alignment. Those small failures are exactly what lead into bigger questions about whether the rest of the kitchen is worth saving or replacing.
Mason Remodeling Co San Diego is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Dvele, and we don’t pretend to be. What we do is understand how these homes were built, what parts Dvele specified, and what fails in San Diego’s coastal air and hard water.
Which Dvele Models This Applies To

Dvele built homes across several California developments, and the kitchen cabinetry varied by build year and spec tier. The compatibility gotcha most owners hit is that Dvele did not use a single cabinet line across all homes. We’ve seen European-style frameless boxes with Blum Tandem slides in newer builds, and face-frame cabinetry with soft-close Grass hinges in earlier ones. They are not interchangeable. If you buy a Blum clip for a Grass hinge plate, it won’t seat, and you’ll think the door is warped when it’s actually a hardware mismatch.
To identify what you have, pull one drawer and look for the manufacturer stamp on the slide, usually near the rear bracket. It’ll say Blum, Grass, or Salice. Then measure the hinge cup diameter: 35mm is standard on Dvele’s Euro-style doors, but we’ve measured a few at 26mm on narrower stiles. That 9mm difference means the difference between a door that hangs straight and one that binds at the corner. Isaac Pruett has pulled enough of these drawers in San Diego to spot the wrong slide from across the room, but we still verify every stamp before quoting a part.
When it comes to OEM versus aftermarket, Dvele sourced decent hardware, but most of it is rebranded European stock. A quality aftermarket Blum or Grass slide will match or exceed the original at roughly 20 to 40 percent less. For hinges, stick with the same brand and cup size. For drawer glides, soft-close undermounts from Blum are the workhorse upgrade we recommend on almost every Dvele kitchen we touch in San Diego.

Signs Your Dvele Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Soft-close drawers slam shut or won’t stay closed. The damper inside the slide has failed, usually from years of grease buildup or a plastic catch that snapped. We see this on the 18-inch and 21-inch base drawers most often because they carry the heaviest loads.
- Cabinet doors sag or rub against the frame. The hinge spring has worn out or one of the two screws has backed out of the particleboard. Dvele’s frameless boxes don’t leave much margin for a stripped screw hole, so this needs a threaded insert, not just a longer screw.
- Laminate or veneer peeling near the sink or dishwasher. Steam and moisture lift the edge banding. Once water gets under the seam, the substrate swells and the panel is never flat again. This is more than cosmetic; it’s the start of panel failure.
- Adjustable shelf clips keep popping out. The pilot holes in the cabinet sides have wallowed out. Dvele uses 5mm shelf pins, and once the hole is egged to 6mm, no amount of tapping fixes it. We drill, dowel, and re-bore.
- Drawer fronts sit uneven after a year or two. The undermount slide’s height adjusters have drifted, or the drawer box itself is racked. A qualified installer can true it up in under an hour; we’ve done it on kitchens from Rancho Bernardo to Chula Vista.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Dvele kitchen remodel in San Diego runs $16,520 to $53,100, and the spread comes down to three things: linear feet of cabinetry, countertop material, and whether we’re moving plumbing or gas lines. A small kitchen refresh with cabinet refacing, new hardware, and a backsplash lands around $10,620 to $23,600. Cabinet installation alone runs $4,720 to $15,340, countertops $2,360 to $7,670, and a kitchen island $3,540 to $11,800.
Here’s how that breaks down on a typical mid-range Dvele kitchen:
| Scope | San Diego Installed Range |
|---|---|
| Cabinet refacing + hardware + soft-close upgrade | $4,720 – $15,340 |
| New countertops (quartz or solid surface) | $2,360 – $7,670 |
| Backsplash, including demo and prep | $945 – $2,950 |
| Kitchen island, built to match existing cabinetry | $3,540 – $11,800 |
| Full kitchen remodel (cabinets, counters, backsplash, island) | $16,520 – $53,100 |

DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself: pull the drawer and read the stamp on the slide, count your hinge cup diameter with a tape measure, and photograph the failing part from two angles before you call anyone. That saves us both time.
What we’d rather you not do is attempt to rebuild a cabinet box, re-hang a heavy door, or install undermount slides without the right jig. The danger isn’t dramatic, but the frustration is real. A drawer glide installed a sixteenth out of square binds under load, and you won’t notice until you’ve filled it with pots. Kitchen remodeling is not gas or electrical work; the risk is wrecked cabinetry and lost weekends, not injury. Still, we tell Dvele owners in San Diego the same thing Isaac tells his own neighbors: tell me what’s broken, I’ll tell you what it takes. Call (619) 673-9302 and we’ll get you a written price.
FAQs

You can expect 10 to 15 years from Dvele’s soft-close hardware and 20 or more from the cabinet boxes themselves, assuming the kitchen isn’t exposed to constant steam. Coastal San Diego homes near the water see hinge corrosion and slide wear about two to three years earlier than inland homes. Call (619) 673-9302 if your kitchen is showing wear before year ten; sometimes a hardware upgrade beats a full remodel.
Yes, and in roughly half the San Diego Dvele kitchens we inspect, the answer is repair: new slides, new hinges, edge banding, or shelf pin re-boring. We’ll tell you plainly if replacement is the better spend. The written estimate covers either path, and the 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to both.
Most Dvele kitchen remodels in San Diego run two to five weeks from demo to final walkthrough, depending on cabinet lead times and countertop templating. A hardware-only swap typically takes one day on site.
We stock Blum, Grass, and Salice soft-close slides and hinges on our trucks, along with 35mm hinge cups, 5mm shelf pins, and standard undermount brackets. We also install KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria and Silestone surfaces when we’re replacing rather than repairing. If we don’t have your exact part, we’ll order it and schedule the install when it lands.
