Tremron Driveway & Pavers: The San Diego Owner’s Guide
If you have a Tremron paver driveway, walkway, or patio in San Diego and a section is cracked, sunken, or pulling apart at the edges, you’re dealing with a paver failure, not a whole-driveway failure. Installed replacement of damaged Tremron pavers in San Diego typically runs between $8260 and $21240 for a full driveway redo, but a targeted repair of a failing section usually costs far less because you’re paying for the pavers and labor on just that area. We stock common Tremron paver profiles and can match most San Diego installations on the first visit.
The typical call sounds like this: a homeowner notices one edge of the driveway is dipping near the lawn, or pavers near the gutter have started tilting, or a section near the garage has developed a spiderweb crack pattern. Sometimes it’s a single paver that’s chipped from a dropped tool. Other times the base layer underneath has washed out after years of San Diego’s wet winters and the whole section shifts when you drive over it. Either way, the fix is matching the existing Tremron unit, pulling the affected area, correcting whatever failed underneath, and resetting the pavers so they lock back together.
Which Tremron Models This Applies To

Tremron manufactures paver lines in several profiles, and the most common ones we see across San Diego driveways are the Holland Stone, Mega Olde Town, and Vienna series, along with the larger slab-style pavers used on some newer builds. The compatibility gotcha with Tremron is that paver dimensions are not universal across their catalog. A Holland Stone from ten years ago may have been produced in a 60mm thickness, while the same profile today is commonly available in 80mm for driveway-rated applications. Matching the wrong thickness gives you a lip at the joint that catches tires and looks wrong from the street.
The reliable way to identify your Tremron unit is to pull one paver from an inconspicuous edge and measure its thickness in millimeters, then check the underside for the Tremron stamp. Some older runs lack the stamp, and in those cases color and chamfer profile (the beveled edge cut) become the matching keys. If you send us a photo of a cleaned paver next to a ruler, we can usually identify it before we arrive. On the OEM versus aftermarket question: Tremron has solid color consistency within a production run, but colors shift between runs over years. Aftermarket equivalents from other San Diego paver suppliers rarely match sun-aged Tremron color well enough for a seamless patch. We default to genuine Tremron units for repairs where the match matters, and we’ll tell you honestly if an aftermarket unit is the better call for your budget.

Signs Your Tremron Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Edge pavers tilting or separating near the perimeter. This almost always means the edge restraint has failed or was never installed properly. Without a solid plastic or concrete edge, driveway pavers spread outward under vehicle weight, and the outside row is the first to move.
- Sunken ruts where the car tires track. The base material under the pavers has compacted unevenly or washed out. In San Diego, this is common where downspouts drain against the driveway edge or where irrigation overspray keeps the sub-base wet through the winter.
- Hairline cracks running across multiple pavers in a line. This indicates a stress point underneath, often a cracked concrete substrate or a tree root pushing up. Replacing just the cracked pavers without addressing the cause means you’ll replace them again in a year.
- Joint sand gone and weeds establishing between units. Sand loss is normal over time, but when the joints are empty enough for weeds to root, the pavers have lost their interlock. Left unaddressed, they start shifting under load because nothing is holding them laterally.
- One or two pavers spalled or flaking on the surface. This is usually a manufacturing variance in that batch or freeze-thaw damage (yes, San Diego’s inland valleys get cold enough overnight in January). A localized replacement is straightforward if we can match the color; if we can’t, a color-blended patch across a small area looks better than one glaringly new paver.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Tremron paver driveway installation in San Diego runs $8260 to $21240 depending on square footage, paver profile, access, and how much base prep the site needs. Partial repairs, which are far more common, typically run between a few hundred and a few thousand dollars: pulling and resetting a sunken section with proper base correction is on the lower end, while redoing an entire driveway edge or replacing a large cracked area with fresh base and edge restraint lands higher. We give a written line-item price before any work starts, and that price is what you pay. No change orders unless you ask us to expand the scope.
What’s included: removal of the failed pavers, base repair (compacted aggregate, not just sand tossed in the hole), re-setting the pavers with correct joint sand, and a fresh edge restraint where the section meets lawn, planter, or street. We cover the work with our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something we repaired fails within a year of completion, we return and make it right at no cost to you. Isaac Pruett signs off on every paver project personally before we call it done.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely handle cleaning and observation: sweep the joints, note where water pools after rain, and mark sunken areas with chalk before you call. You can also pull a single edge paver for identification as described above. What goes wrong in DIY paver repair is the base. Homeowners replace the paver but not the failed base underneath, and six months later the same rut returns. Or they use sand instead of compacted aggregate, or skip the edge restraint, or install mismatched thickness units and live with a lip. Paver work is not dangerous like a garage spring, but it is physically demanding, and doing it twice costs more than doing it once. If you’d rather hand it off, call us at (619) 673-9302 and we’ll talk through what you’re seeing before we ever schedule a visit.
FAQs

A properly installed Tremron paver driveway in San Diego lasts 25 to 30 years before most homeowners consider a full replacement, though you should expect to re-sand joints every few years and address localized settling as the base shifts. Coastal salt air is harder on color than inland heat; inland UV exposure fades surface color faster. Call (619) 673-9302 if your pavers are moving – the base is the problem, not the paver age.
Yes, in most cases a failing section can be pulled, the base rebuilt, and the same or matched pavers reset, which saves thousands compared to a full driveway replacement in San Diego. The exception is when the sub-base has failed across the entire driveway footprint. We’ll tell you which situation you have before quoting, and the estimate is free.
A localized repair of a sunken or separated section typically takes one day for the removal, base correction, and reset, with a short cure period before you drive on it. Larger partial re-dos may run two to three days depending on access and the amount of base material we need to haul out and bring in.
We keep common Tremron Holland Stone and Mega Olde Town units in our San Diego yard, and we order less common profiles and colors per job with a short lead time from local Tremron distributors. If your paver is discontinued, we’ll source the closest available match and show you a sample before any work begins.
